CONTINUED Education

Mid Atlantic Teen Challenge provides a comprehensive education program designed to help participants continue their academic pursuits while in the program. The program offers individualized instruction, academic assessments, and tutoring to help participants catch up on missed coursework or work towards a high school diploma or GED. The staff at Mid Atlantic Teen Challenge is committed to helping participants achieve academic success and encourages them to set educational goals for themselves.

Community Outreach

Mid Atlantic Teen Challenge strongly emphasizes community outreach and actively participates in various outreach programs in the local community. The program seeks to inspire participants to give back to their communities and be agents of positive change. Through community outreach and partnerships with churches, business’s and other community organizations Mid Atlantic Teen Challenge instills a sense of responsibility and encourages participants to become active and engaged members of their communities.

Spiritual Restoration

Mid Atlantic Teen Challenge is a faith-based program that places a strong emphasis on Christian spiritual growth and development. The program is founded on the belief that a deep and meaningful relationship with God is essential to overcoming life-controlling issues and achieving lasting recovery.   • At MATC, we believe mind, body, and spirit are all connected and in need of our attention. Here, students have an opportunity to achieve personal goals.

    Eduaction is achieved on an individual level at a pace set by our educator based on the student’s educational needs and goals.

    Physical activity is a very important part of emotional and spiritual health. Students receive regular activity on site, locally through the YMCA, and nearby parks.

  • Special events are scheduled throughout the year! Beach outings, amusement parks, deep sea fishing, trampoline parks, military base visits, and more.

  • Family visitation time is open via our quarterly family weekends which offer time for students and families to re-connect. Along with group activities which challenge body and mind, we offer family meetings in a controlled environment with the option of mediation assistance from one of our staff.

    Otherwise, visitors from our local volunteer community are encouraged on a regular basis!

  • In regards to communication and contact with your student, students may write to their family as often as they would like, to a pre-approved, parent provided correspondence list. We encourage the families to write back often. After successful completion of the first 30 days, weekly phone calls commence. Families are assigned a time and day of the week that they will receive a timed call from their student. Parents/Guardians will also receive communications from Mid-Atlantic Teen Challenge regarding student progress and incidents, as well as family support options.

  • MATC has various options to address the complex needs of each family. Our goal is to serve families in the most effective way possible. The MATC team has designed different packages a family can consider to determine what works best for them, which are presented in the application process.
