Discipleship Training & Mentoring Programs

Mid-Atlantic Teen Challenge is a Christian rehab center based in Newport News, Virginia. When discussing our teen addiction recovery programs with parents of potential students, our Mid-Atlantic Teen Challenge staff often receive questions about our discipleship training and mentoring programs. What is Discipleship?

man and teen part of MATC discipleship mentoring programsAs Christians, discipleship is part of the Great Commission. In Matthew 26:19-20, Jesus calls his followers to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Discipleship goes way beyond just learning the Gospel. Becoming a disciple of Christ means knowing and understanding the love of God, building a life-changing relationship with Him, and allowing that relationship to guide you throughout your life. Discipleship is an ongoing process and one that is strengthened through your relationship with other Christians. That’s why at Mid-Atlantic Teen Challenge, our discipleship training goes hand in hand with our mentoring programs.

Discipleship Training and Mentoring Programs

At Mid-Atlantic Teen Challenge, we incorporate that discipleship call into all of our mentoring programs. As a Christian rehab center, we understand that our students’ symptoms are an indication of deeper problems and conflicts. These deeper problems can only truly be overcome through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our mentoring programs connect students with our trained and compassionate staff to work through past abuses and traumas and find their identity in Christ. Through these relationships, our students are strengthened spiritually, emotionally, socially, and educationally. Discipleship training is an integral part of our substance abuse treatment programs and is incorporated into every student’s daily schedule.
